This project consisted of the design, construction and installation of a Spurtan BV athletics track and associated recreation and workout areas. The original old and run-down athletics track did not meet IAAF standards and included a range of issues within the drainage system, pavement, kerbing and had the unfortunate shape of a ‘chicken egg’.

Cebu 7H Technochem Industries, Inc (Cebu 7H) were awarded a challenging scope of works which included:

  • The correction of running track size, drainage system improvements and rectification of the concrete slab.
  • Construction of the athletics track, volleyball courts, basketball courts and outdoor fitness area.

As part of the solution to transform this facility, Cebu 7H relocated and resized the throwing and jumping event areas to become compliant with IAAF standards.  In addition, half of the drainage canal was cantilevered to allow for a proper 400 metres of running space, enabling a sufficient safety zone for the runners using lane 1.

The athletics track was surfaced using a Blue Spurtan BV system, whilst the outdoor fitness area was created using Spurtan WT with yellow and blue EPDM to create a unique and colourful design.

The vibrant and newly refurbished venue has now been nominated for the 2020 Philippine National Games and looks outstanding.
