This hospital courtyard project demonstrates how thoughtful landscape design can support healing, wellbeing and cultural connection. Drawing inspiration from Indigenous storytelling and the traditions of community gathering, the design incorporates vibrant EPDM rubber surfacing to create therapeutic outdoor spaces that are both meaningful and functional.
Developed for use by both general and psychiatric patients, the seamless surfacing system provides a durable, weather-resistant and low-maintenance solution while eliminating trip hazards and improving accessibility. Manufactured from environmentally conscious virgin materials, the EPDM surface delivers long-term colour stability and design flexibility.
Celebrating the heritage of the Awabakal people, the project creates welcoming spaces that foster reflection, connection and wellbeing while honouring Indigenous culture through integrated design.
