Shanghai Disneyland set out to create a visually engaging playground experience that would complement the destination’s world-class visitor experience while meeting the highest standards of safety and durability.
Working alongside Disneyland Shanghai’s Design & Show Quality team, Shanghai Shangfu delivered a 250m² playground upgrade featuring the PolyPlay FS GT soft-fall system. Inspired by contemporary European playground design, the project combined intricate surfacing patterns with vibrant colours to create an immersive recreational environment that encourages exploration and imaginative play.
The complexity of the design required precise installation techniques and meticulous attention to detail to achieve the seamless finish and visual consistency demanded within a globally recognised entertainment destination. PolyPlay FS GT was selected for its ability to deliver both design flexibility and long-term performance, while meeting the strict safety requirements of high-traffic public environments.
Completed within just 20 days, the finished playground achieved both EN1177 and ASTM1292 fall safety compliance standards, providing a durable and visually striking play space capable of withstanding heavy daily use. The project highlights how premium soft-fall surfacing systems can successfully combine safety, creativity and performance within world-class recreational environments.
